I led the development of the social and software platform DengueChat at the Social Apps Lab. Its aim is to advance community engagements in preventing arbovirus disease by mobilizing residents to eliminate the mosquito Aedes aegypti that transmits dengue, chikungunya, and Zika. With colleagues at the School of Public Health, we piloted DengueChat in Managua from 2014 to 2016. We worked with community-based youth brigades in 5 intervention neighborhoods with DengueChat and 5 control neighborhoods without it. The photographs here recount a version of this story.
